Prepare Website Images: Crop, Resize and Choose a Format

Prepare smaller website images locally with a practical crop, resize, WebP conversion and quality-check workflow.

Image performance depends on pixel dimensions, format and how the page loads the file. Work from the original image and export once at the end where possible. An image that looks good on a phone can still be too large for the space it occupies.

Step 1

Choose the composition

Remove unnecessary edges before resizing so the subject remains visible. Keep a separate original. For a product image, leave enough space around the item and check whether the destination expects a square or a landscape shape.

Open Image Cropper

Step 2

Match the display dimensions

A 4,000-pixel photograph is usually unnecessary for a small content card. Choose dimensions based on the actual display area and the sharpness needed on high-density screens. Avoid enlarging a small source and expecting more detail.

Open Image Resizer

Step 3

Choose a delivery format

For a photographic JPG, compare a WebP copy with the source. A PNG screenshot or transparent graphic belongs in the PNG-to-WebP tool instead. Compare small text, edges and transparency before replacing the source asset.

Open JPG to WebP

Step 4

Alternative: export JPEG when required

This is an alternative to WebP, not a required extra conversion. Start from your cropped or resized source when the destination needs JPEG output. Check file size after the export; a conversion does not always shrink a file. Repeated JPEG compression can add artifacts, so restart from the original if the result is poor.

Open Image Compressor

Before you finish

When placing the finished image on a page, reserve its dimensions, use alt text that describes its purpose, and defer below-the-fold images. Do not lazy-load the main image a visitor needs to see immediately.

Privacy and handoff between steps

Download each result, inspect it, then select that file in the next tool. ToolVero does not automatically transfer your file between these pages. Public libraries and advertising can make separate network requests; the selected-file processing workflow is explained in the Privacy Center.
