Check character count instantly

Paste or type text to see the total number of characters and the count excluding spaces. A character checker is useful for form fields, social captions, titles, metadata, usernames, product descriptions and any workflow with a text-length limit.

How to use the character counter

  1. Type or paste text into the box.
  2. Read the live total character count.
  3. Compare it with the count excluding spaces if your platform uses that rule.
  4. Edit the text and watch the count update immediately.

Characters with spaces vs without spaces

Some systems count every space while others specify a limit excluding spaces. ToolVero shows both values so you can compare them. Punctuation, line breaks, emojis and combined Unicode characters can be treated differently by different platforms, so always use the platform's own final validation for a strict submission limit.

Useful character-checking examples

  • Check whether a form response fits a maximum length.
  • Trim a social-media caption before posting.
  • Review a page title or meta description while editing a website.
  • Measure short product labels, ad copy or interface text.
  • Compare versions of a sentence after shortening it.

Why two tools may show different counts

Simple Latin text usually produces the same count everywhere, but complex emoji sequences, combining marks and some Unicode characters can be counted differently depending on whether a system measures code points, grapheme clusters or underlying string units. ToolVero is designed as a quick browser-based checker, not as a guarantee of another platform's internal counting rules.

Privacy

The counting logic runs in your browser and does not require a ToolVero file upload. Avoid pasting passwords, private keys or other highly sensitive secrets into web utilities unless you have reviewed the processing model and understand your own browser environment.

Frequently asked questions

Does the character count include spaces?

ToolVero shows both the total count and a second count excluding spaces.

Do line breaks count as characters?

Line breaks are part of the text string and can affect the total. Different receiving platforms may normalize them differently.

Can emojis affect the count?

Yes. Some emoji are made from multiple Unicode code points, so another platform can report a different total depending on its counting method.

Is this the same as a word counter?

No. Character Counter measures text length at the character level. Use the Word Counter when you need words as well as characters.
