Split PDF by Page Range or Extract Pages into One File

Save selected PDF pages to one new PDF. Review ranges and page order before download, with a six-page source and a tested three-page example.

In Split PDF, commas separate output files. In Extract PDF Pages, commas select pages for the same output file. Try the six-page source; every page shows its original number.

Split the sample into two ranges

  1. Open Split PDF and select the six-page source.
  2. Enter 1-3,4-6 in Page groups.
  3. Select Split PDF, save the ZIP and extract it.
  4. Open both PDFs. Check for original pages 1–3 in the first file and 4–6 in the second.

For a single file with non-consecutive pages, follow the extraction example below.

Worked example: keep pages 2, 4 and 5

Download the six-page practice PDF. Each page has its original number printed on it, so you can verify both the selection and output order.

  1. Choose the practice PDF in the tool.
  2. Enter 2,4-5 in Pages to keep.
  3. Select Review selection. The planned output should contain three pages: 2, 4, 5.
  4. Select Extract pages, then Download PDF. Open it and compare the printed original page numbers.

Page positions and range rules

Count from the first PDF page, including covers: page position 1 may not have the printed label “1”. Use whole numbers and ascending ranges separated by commas. On this sample, 7, 0, 5-2 and 1,,3 are invalid. Repeated numbers are included once. The tool reports invalid entries before generating output.

Extraction follows your entered order: 5,2,4 creates one PDF containing original pages 5, 2 and 4 in that order. It does not create three separate files. Use Split PDF when separate outputs are needed.

Check the downloaded copy

The original remains on your device. Confirm the page count, text, images and order before sharing the new file. Editing invalidates digital signatures. Extraction may omit document-level forms, bookmarks or attachments. Protected or malformed PDFs may fail; use a readable copy you are authorized to edit.
