Open Watermark Selected PDF Pages with Text or a Logo

Visual walkthrough: logo on pages 2 and 5

Download the six-page source PDF and transparent DEMO logo. This example adds a logo to two pages while leaving pages 1, 3, 4 and 6 unmarked.

  1. Watermark type: Image
    Choose the DEMO PNG.
  2. Pages: Selected range
Enter 2,5, using PDF page positions.
  3. Position: Bottom right
Set opacity to 0.35 and rotation to 0.
  4. Watermark PDF
Open the downloaded copy and inspect all six pages.

Actual sample output: DEMO appears on pages 2 and 5 only.

Download the matching watermarked PDF. The normal PDF route preserves the logo's proportions and scales it to fit within 45% of the page width and height. Font size controls text, not the logo size in this route.

For a text mark, choose Text, enter DRAFT and try opacity 0.22, font size 48 and center placement. Use 1-3,5 to mark four pages. Always inspect marks for clipping or covered text. A watermark is a visible label, not access control.

Example: watermark pages 1–3 and 5 only

Download the fictional six-page practice PDF and open Watermark PDF. This exercise leaves pages 4 and 6 unmarked.

  1. Select the practice PDF and choose Text as the watermark type.
  2. Enter DRAFT. Start with opacity 0.22, font size 48 and center position. Adjust rotation to suit the document.
  3. In Pages, choose Selected range and enter 1-3,5. Numbers refer to PDF page positions, starting at 1, not printed page labels.
  4. Select Watermark PDF and open the downloaded copy.
  5. Check pages 1, 2, 3 and 5 for DRAFT, then check that pages 4 and 6 remain unmarked.

Choose the page selection deliberately

SelectionResult on six pages
All pages1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Odd pages1, 3, 5
Even pages2, 4, 6
Selected range: 1-3,51, 2, 3, 5

A range beyond the document length is invalid. For example, 8 is not valid in the six-page sample. If the result looks wrong, confirm that Pages is set to Selected range rather than All pages.

Use a logo instead of text

Choose Image and select a PNG or JPG logo. A transparent PNG is useful when you do not want a solid rectangular background. Check the output for stretched artwork and for obstruction of body text. Use a corner position for ownership marks and center position for a visible draft label.

Opacity and readability

Opacity 0.22 is a starting point, not a universal setting. Dark scanned pages and fine text may need a different value. Review a dense page, a mostly blank page and any landscape pages. The tool produces a new copy; retain your original so you can change the settings without stacking multiple watermarks.

Protected PDFs and visual fallback

If required, enter the correct PDF password. Some files may use a visual fallback that rebuilds pages as images; the result message tells you when this happens. In that case searchable text, links, forms, annotations and bookmarks may not survive. Keep the original when those features matter.

Frequently asked questions

Does a watermark prevent copying?

No. It is a visible label, not encryption or access control. Use Protect PDF when you need password-based access protection.

Are ranges based on printed page numbers?

No. A cover sheet counts as page 1 even if it has no printed number. Use the positions shown in your PDF viewer.

Can I remove a watermark later?

Keep the unmarked original. This tool adds marks and does not promise to remove them from the finished PDF.
