How it works

Choose an image, select Remove metadata, inspect the preview and download the new PNG. The tool decodes the image and creates a fresh PNG from the displayed pixels. It retains only the image header, pixel-data and end chunks. Original EXIF, GPS fields, XMP, comments and embedded thumbnails are not copied into that output.

What the report verifies

The output has only IHDR, IDAT and IEND chunks. The report checks the output container, not the source's individual metadata values. Image dimensions and encoding information necessarily remain. Your download uses a neutral filename so the original filename is not repeated.

Limitations

This is a re-encoded PNG copy, not lossless editing of your original file. Dimensions are preserved and PNG adds no JPEG compression artifacts, but browser decoding and removal of color profiles may change appearance. The output can be larger. Animation becomes a single frame; HEIC, RAW and SVG are not supported. Transparency is preserved by the PNG output. Very large images may fail on memory-limited devices.

It does not remove sensitive details visible in pixels, erase previous copies or alter filesystem timestamps created by your device. Keep the original if you need provenance, original color profiles or camera information.

Frequently asked questions

Does this preserve my original JPEG or WebP format?

No. It decodes the source and creates a new PNG copy. Dimensions are preserved, but browser decoding and removal of color profiles may change appearance; the output may be larger.

Which metadata is removed?

The output keeps only PNG image header, pixel-data and end chunks. Source EXIF, GPS fields, XMP, comments and embedded thumbnails are not copied. The report checks the output container rather than listing original metadata values.

Does this remove visible personal information?

No. Faces, addresses and other details visible in the pixels remain. Review the picture and filename before sharing.

Which files can I use?

Choose JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels. Animated inputs become one still frame. HEIC, RAW and SVG are not supported.
